What is involved with sports and camp physicals?

Sports and camp physicals are performed to help ensure kids are healthy enough to safely participate in organized athletics or attend a camp. The specifics of a sports or camp physical may vary depending on your child’s age, overall health, and sport or camp of choice. In general, though, these physicals involve:

• Reviewing your child’s personal and family medical history, current medications, and any present health problems
• Recording height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, and other vitals
• Evaluating posture, muscle strength, flexibility, reflexes, heart and lung function, vision, hearing, and other important health characteristics

In the event that your child’s physical indicates the need for a digital X-ray, clinical lab testing, or EKG, we can swiftly perform these services onsite. Our experienced providers can also administer vaccines, if appropriate, and answer any questions you or your child may have. Finally, we will complete any necessary paperwork during your visit so your child can begin enjoying his or her activities as quickly as possible.
