Dr. Robert Mooney has dedicated his professional life to emergency medicine serving patients across the Bay Area. He honed his skills in community trauma centers and went on to work with one of the largest hospitals in Northern California, eventually assuming the role of Chief of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Mooney thrives in team-oriented environments to deliver efficient and compassionate care to every patient. As a STAT MED Medical Director, he infuses his clinical experience and collaborative style into the patient-centered experience upon which STAT MED was founded. Dr. Mooney, also leads STAT MED’s head injury and concussion services, not only as a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant but from the eyes of someone who has treated 1000s of head injuries in the ER.
Growing up in the East Bay, Dr. Mooney attended Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, then Stanford University prior to obtaining his medical degree at UCLA. His keen interest in emergency medicine stems from being the oldest of five very active and athletic siblings who shared a passion for a myriad of sports, from skiing to swimming to hiking. With his wife who is a high school nurse, he has raised four children, all graduates of Lamorinda’s Acalanes High School. Dr. Mooney has volunteered in youth religious education. He also has served as a coach in CYO basketball, and as president of the Walnut Creek Aquabears Swim Team
When he is not caring for patients at Stat Med, Dr. Mooney enjoys hiking East Bay trails with his family, skiing in the Sierras, and being an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders and Golden State Warriors.
